Walter Hickel, a widdle musk ox

Alaska Political Insider Musk Ox video link

We was cute.  He was sweet.  He leaned into me when I pet him.  He fell asleep at my feet.

What more can be said of note of one of the dang cutest little baby animals I have ever seen - a three week old musk ox calf from the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center that was named after late Governor Walter Hickel.

Lead Intern Erin Leighton brought the little guy into the television studio early so he would have time to acclimate.  Turns out, Walter was a natural.  He wasn't the least bit shy in front of the lights and cameras, and acted like a superstar in front of his adoring fans.  No autographs were signed, but photos were taken.

For the record, his dense fur was soft and warm.  He didn't really smell all that musky.  Walter likes to lick a lot.  You can herd him like a goat.
