We had thought to zip down to Arkansas for the weekend to see Andie father, since her producer had to rush out of town for a family emergency.
Severe thunderstorm warnings and a slew of tornados got the better of us, so we decided to go to the Grand Ole Opry instead. We were an hour and a half late for the first show, thanks in no small part to a combination of Andie's keen sense of direction, the driving rain, and the amazing directions that locals offered us.
No harm, no foul. The staff at the Ryman was awesome. Lola got us the best parking, Leonard shuffled us backstage where we got to meet Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones. We enjoyed performances by Little Jimmy Dickens, Ashley Monroe, Connie Smith and Jason Michael Carroll.
Second set offered the hilarious Mike Snider, George Jones, and Jason Byrd offering up his Opry debut and kicking it hard. Now we missed Joe Nichols because Jason's group whisked off to Lonnies with us in Printer's Alley. His best friend, Woody, and his beautiful wife, Lauren made for an exceptionally entertaining evening, especially when coupled with Adam Borgens and Nick Bussell who are busting out of Indy Racing and looking to tear up some stock car tracks. Definitely cool bunch to hang with, and the best karaoke one could ever hope for.
No, I didn't sing.
