Remember that Right to Bear Arms thing?

Probably a pretty poor idea in a residential area. Maybe you figured that out after all the 911 calls.
5:45 PM

You know one of the things that I like about living in America... if you live in a low population density rural area, give plenty of notice to the authorities, hold a private event during reasonable hours using prudent precautions for safety - you get to enjoy target shooting your legal weapons.

For those of you not in the know, I have no neighbors on either side for over two acres from the shoot, for over 60 acres from the back of the shoot, and the only neighbor within an acre of the front of the shoot came over and joined us. The turkey shoot was completely legal in this area.

We had fun. And for those of you who haven't caught on yet, no turkeys were harmed during this activity. It was a turkey shoot not a turkey hunt.

I take that back. I guess you didn't figure it out.

You know, like most people, I don't give much concern to comments from those who hide behind the "Anonymous" marker. I take them for entertainment value only. You note with 10 comments only one was negative, that being from Mr. Anonymous - and I am letting you remain that way out of courtesy for your cowardise. But I know exactly who you are, down to your name, street address, ip address, operating system being that middle American favorite Windows XP. See you are using that tired Internet Explorer 6.0 - may want to spring for an upgrade, 7.0 has been around for a while now. With 1024x768x32 resolution on that screen you should get the picture. Thanks for stopping by.

Only a F-ing idiot wrapping themselves in the flag would poke fun at activating the already strapped emergency services of a small town by turning their property into a warzone without having the simple decency to notify their neighbors, instead letting helpless pets crouch under furniture soiling themselves all day to avoid going outside and being scared half to death by automatic gunfire, high explosives, and perhaps animal cruelty. The City of Seward sure picked themselves a LOSER for a City Council Person who shows ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT FOR HER NEIGHBORS,(who were disturbed by gunfire all day and are continuing to suffer the TOXIC effects of her lack of any sense of stewardship) HER LAND,(now a toxic waste dump holding materials including boat bottom paint, toxic sandblast grit contaminated with diesel fuel, as well as heaven knows how much lead and shell casings.), or HER COMMUNITY (laughing about taking VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS AND EMT's way from their day jobs to respond to what may have been a legal, but certainly not an ethical activity) Thank God there was not an earthquake, Motor Vehicle Accident, Heart Attack or other true emergency happening while our dedicated local volunteers were responding (putting themselves at risk) to an obvious false alarm.
While I do not live inside the city limits, and therefore am a second class citizen (despite my habit of shopping in Seward, paying a sales tax, instead of shopping in Anchorage where everything is de-facto 6% off), I will do what I can the next election cycle to get rid of this MORON who absolutely does not care about her community, her neighbors, or her land. Develop some ethics, honey
2:34 PM

Dear Second Class Citizen:

How ethical is it to cry wolf to local authorities about an activity that you obviously knew about before hand (because we can track you reading about it in my blog, duh) pretending that you had no idea what was going on? About just as ethical as suggesting that I have a toxic waste dump on my property when significant testing (because of your complaints) has proven otherwise. You are right, I would not consider myself to have the same level of ethics that you have - nor would I ever aspire to.

I know, and if this is the best I can come up with life must be getting pretty bleak.

I think that reference was completely lost on Mr. Rogers, but glad to know that you were clever enough to pick up on it.

One of the reasons for anonymous postings on blogs is to keep comments pertintent to the topic and not turn the discussion into personal attacks. The anonomous blogger has the same responsibility. There was an attempt to discuss with you whether the turkey event in a residential area was a good idea. You responded with comments such as the choice of the poster's browser.
Perhaps you should take down the anonymous login or at least post you are only accepting those coomments in support of your own views.

That would be a reasonable discussion I would be willing to entertain IF I lived in a residential neighborhood.

I don't.

The neighbor closest to the shoot is a welding shop. The neighbor who is complaining anonymously runs a large unlicensed dog kennel on the other side. The property next to him holds only a private storage facility.

It is a low population density rural (country for those of you Stateside) area, that is the reason that it is legal to shoot at my property.

I have no difficulty with those wanting to breeze in, make an anonymous comment, and breeze out. They don't have to agree with me, I am open for other viewpoints - which becomes readily apparent if you read the comments to my other postings.

Someone with the history of Mr. Rogers is simply continuing a discussion that the rest of you are not privy to - which is inappropriate.

Well, your assumption is incorrect. I am not your direct neighbor who you mock for his complaints about your lack of basic land stewardship causing him to lose (at least temporarily) his livlihood. He could not run his business because of YOUR careless actions and subsequent LYING about the toxic waste dump you created on your property. (remember your quote..."there were no cars or other illegal materials burned on my property"...with the picture of the smoldering junker in the article.) The facts remain: after your junk fire, his property and well were CONTAMINATED WITH TOXIC MATERIALS that were not there before your burn.
I have no problem with your right to bear arms. In fact, I consider myself adequately prepared for a New Orleans style lawlessness and would and will protect my family first should it happen here. I don't mind folks shooting guns in a safe and responsible manner. My neighbors regularly shoot and I don't mind one iota. I have even been known to site in a rifle or light off an illegal firework or two within close earshot of my home in the past. HOWEVER, when someone shoots ALL DAY LONG and uses obviously high explosives (as my new windows vibrated to numerous EXPLOSIONS throughout the day) it trys my patience. Despite your obvious thoughts otherwise, the sounds of your 'fun' travel substantial distances, While I do realize that this is not a zoned area, and am willing to put up with the occasional hassle as a result, shooting all day went beyond being a bad neighbor to disturbing the peace.
I was not notified in any way of your event, and I was sent your 'blog' address by a mutual friend as well as a friend of mine who is not one of yours. I only checked it out yesterday after learning that you were behind the disturbance.
The things that trouble me more than anything else are that #1 - You don't see the seriousness of toning out volunteer emergency providers. How would you feel if on the way to your home, the Bear Creek Fire Department's new truck was in an accident causing the death of someone or the destruction of this vehicle designed and purchased to protect our community. What about if a Senior Citizen living at Glacier View had a heart attack while our primary ambulance crew was out chasing 'turkeys' on Nash RD. The appropriate response would have been to apologize for taking these precious volunteers away from their jobs and families, not mocking them for your supposedly informing the Police Department beforehand. I would expect that at the next Bear Creek Fire Department meeting you will be there with donuts to apologize (I believe their meetings are Thursday night) #2 Your lack of any sense of land stewardship. This, is evidenced by your continuing attitude that you can do whatever you want on your property and let everyone else be damned. Remember that in Genesis, man was given dominion over the earth, which requires stewardship and respect for THE LAND, as well as a duty to follow the golden rule when dealing with your neighbors. Read Aldo Leopold's "the Land Ethic" to learn more ( http://www.tipiglen.dircon.co.uk/landethic.html )
As far as remaining anonymous...I feel that I can make a bigger difference in the community this way. You will feel the wrath of my opinion come election time. I only wish you were up for reelection in October. I have campaign donations burning a hole in my pocket for someone to run against you.

What I find interesting is your ability to pull my stepfather into litigation that he has nothing to do with through the bogas eye witness testimony offered in your affidavit.

Tom never drove any heavy equipment, YOU KNOW THAT, yet you swore under oath that you saw him do it.

What about the ethics of trying to make an innocent bystander into the mastermind of every evil you can manufacture?

I'm sorry, but you have zero credibility with me. Find someone else to buy the bullshit you are selling, you won't find any takers here.

Staying anonymous to avoid personal attacks is a rediculous reason when you're attacking the blogger over an obviously personal reason.
