Some things do change as time rolls on, and the scene at this 4th Avenue landmark is one of them. The crowd is still there, but now they all look like they need to go to classes at UAA in the morning. Was told the drinks are well priced, noticed the line at the door moved quickly, and I actually like the new carpet they put in.
We weren't there for the re-model, we were there for the music, and the music... well, as one contestant once said, "Dick, it has a beat and I can dance to it."
Celebrating their first year anniversary, Alaska's Official DJ Showcase is all about dancing. The music is well mixed and varied, the DJs are focused on the tunes not promoting themselves as personalities. If you want to dance, and I mean dance all night long, this is the place to go.
Forget finding a partner - this is not Homecoming. No one sits quietly in a chair next to the wall waiting for their intended to walk across the room and ask them to shake a leg. The entire venue is a dance floor, even the folks shooting pool in the back are moving to the beat as Ross Young, Mojo and DJ James demonstrate their mad skills in a funky techno-extravaganza.
A rotation of nine DJs heat up the floor every week. DJ Juba and Dig Sista got the party started, and it bounced the building. Just watching the show on the floor is well worth the trip. Every Sunday night, it is hip, it's happening, put your dancing shoes on and get your groove back.
