On the outskirts of Anchorage, this family decided to build a sturdy, colorful playground for their 3 and 4 year old sons, with smooth-stone gravel all around it to avoid knee scrapes and other injuries.
They finished building it on Saturday evening, and the following morning, as the mom was about to wake up the boys and have them go out to play in their new play center, this is what she saw from the upstairs window:

No Photoshopping, those are real black bears.
Those are awesome pictures! I've only ever seen one black bear before, as I walked along a mountain trail with my partner, it was just a young one, and we waited till it disappeared into the undergrowth before continuing walking past. I picked up a small rock just the same, because I knew the mother had to be close by somewhere. Luckily, we saw no further signs and continued on our way.
