Lindsey hits the Big 50

A Fabulous 50s party was held at the home of Carol and Dale Lindsey, Keith's parents. Guests munched down on halibut from Thorn's Showcase Lounge and gathered around the piano to sing the classic "Happy Birthday to You" while the candles on the chocolate cake blazed. Cards and gifts were opened. A good time was had by all.

More Casmir Self-Portraits

What is really great about Photo Booth is that it allows for all this wonderful creativity with instant gratification. None of the expense and time of sending photographs out to be developed. There is even a flash on the computer, and a three-count prior to the photo being taken. The kids were able to pose themselves using the screen like a mirror, then hit the button and boom! Lots of fun photos. It is also a great way for them to spend time in front of the computer developing more than their computer games skills.

Casmir Self-Portraits

Not bad for a 12 year old using the camera embedded in the computer. She also worked the effects on the photos herself.

Andie loves those babies

In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately,
due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny
size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health,
although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused
the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate
another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there
were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians
decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother
of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only orphans" that could be
found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in
tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger. Would they become cubs or pork chops?
Take a look...you won't believe your eyes!!

Chris Jr at 606 Hemlock

This house, which my grandfather built with the help of his neighbors and some longshoreman buddies, is now for sale. It is at the corner of Hemlock and Evergreen. My grandmother said at the time of construction it was across the street from the cemetery and at the end of Lover's Lane.

Must have been taken in the mid 60s, I am guessing from the style of photograph.

Laurence Sorenson & Mildred Heinbaugh, 1940

This photograph was taken most likely in Holton, Michigan, at the Sorenson Family farm. Laurence had yet to go to war in the Navy, Chris & Millie had yet to leave to Alaska. My grandmother always fancied her brother-in-laws, who lived with them for a time.

The Old Luthern/Methodist Church altar. The building is currently being used as the ResArt Coffee Shop. Many thanks to Mark Luttrell for identifying the location.

Matanuska Valley, 1948

A trip to Palmer must have been quite an adventure when this series was taken. Chris Sorenson looks out at the Matanuska Valley, after a dusty drive over the newly constructed Glenn Highway.

Chris Sorenson

My grandfather fell in love with Alaska immediately. He had come up with his father-in-law, Wayne Heinbaugh, to visit a friend who had tried his hand at the Nome gold rush. They both decided to make Seward their home. They moved into side-by-side quansot huts prior to building homes. Circa 1948.

David DeMordaunt rocks on

David FINALLY joined up with another band. We went to college together at the Y, where he was on the debate team with me. These days he practices law to keep the mortgage paid, glad to hear that he is heating up Northern California at night.

To hear his music, buy a cd, hit the title of this post. David is billed as "San Francisco Bay Area musician influenced by the Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, and Blue Oyster Cult."
